7th Science - We watched a video about DNA and genetic research and took a quiz over what we have learned about DNA.

7th Religion - We wrote prayers that will be shared with the school in the mornings.

Food Science - We tried, unsuccessfully, to make mayonnaise in class today.  None of the mixtures properly emulsified.

Food Science - Reviewed some food safety principles and discussed some questions about the upcoming weeks.

7th Science - Today we checked for a proper science fair question, hypothesis, and trial run reflection. Next week a data table should be in students' logbooks.

8th Science - Continued working on projects and reflections for those projects.  Also, we took a periodic table pretest over row 4 - the final test will be in two weeks: December 4.

1. How do you respond to temptations and fight them off, especially the temptations that you face over, and over, and over again?
2. Jesus fought off temptations by using Scripture.  What Scripture that you know would help you when you are being tempted, verses that you have memorized so that you can use them in hard situations?
3. What do you think it would be like to leave your job working with your dad and just follow Jesus (especially considering the things he did and said)?

8th Science - We finished working through our KWL chart about Magnetism and students submitted responses for each category.

7th Science - We did a worksheet (Google Drive) reviewing heredity while watching a video.  We also began talking about DNA.

8th Science - We are working on a KWL chart for magnetism.

Food Science - Chef Steve taught students how to make crepes today, and students all got a chance to make some!

Ingredients
2 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 cup flour
3 tablespoons melted butter
Butter, for coating the pan
Directions
In a blender, combine all of the ingredients and pulse for 10 seconds. Place the crepe batter in the refrigerator for 1 hour. This allows the bubbles to subside so the crepes will be less likely to tear during cooking. The batter will keep for up to 48 hours.

Heat a small non-stick pan. Add butter to coat. Pour 1 ounce of batter into the center of the pan and swirl to spread evenly. Cook for 30 seconds and flip. Cook for another 10 seconds and remove to the cutting board. Lay them out flat so they can cool. Continue until all batter is gone. After they have cooled you can stack them and store in sealable plastic bags in the refrigerator for several days or in the freezer for up to two months. When using frozen crepes, thaw on a rack before gently peeling apart.

*Savory Variation Add 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs, spinach or sun-dried tomatoes to the egg mixture.

*Sweet Variation Add 21/2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of your favorite liqueur to the egg mixture.

8th Science - Students are filling out documents about the projects that they are doing on Wednesday connecting their work to established scientific principles and concepts.

7th Science - Reviewed Mitosis and meiosis.  We also filled out a document looking ahead at our science fair work for the rest of 2nd quarter.

8th Science - Introduction to magnetism and magnetic fields.

7th Religion - We went over some important Jewish holidays and events in preparation for our Passover Seder meal tomorrow.
